The ClassroomAngel Story

What is the story behind the ClassroomAngel service? Read this blog to get an overview!

We’re happy you're researching us and the service. We love, value, and cherish education. Since you’re here, you probably do too! That’s what led us to create ClassroomAngel.

“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
~ William Butler Yeats

The ClassroomAngel story reads how many companies start: we experienced a painful situation (headache) and wanted to create our own cure (aspirin). In this case, the parent classroom management that we experienced from a room parent, a parent, and even a teacher’s perspective gave us a headache. The headache came more from the frustration knowing there was a better way but not having the time to tackle that better way. So the idea did not come overnight but over a series of years and conversations where we often said, “there has to be a better way!” Finally, we took the plunge and this is the result.

Amy and her husband, Christian, we’ll meet them below, often talk about education. These topics are not new but during a family road trip Amy shared with her husband that she had an idea that could help students, parents AND teachers. It was during this conversation that ClassroomAngel started to take shape.

  • Could we use technology to increase parental involvement in the classroom without adding to the teacher’s workload?
  • Could we enhance the role of the room parent by helping them focus more on the creative and fun volunteer work they do so well and less on the administrative stuff?
  • Could technology actually increase contributions to the classroom?

Through a focused, easy-to-use app we could do this. Let’s meet the founders.

Meet Amy

Amy is an early elementary school teacher and a parent. She has also been a room parent. With two daughters, now teenagers, she’s pretty much seen and done it all in elementary school both in the USA and for two years in Finland. Currently, Amy teaches at the second grade level. She has gone between first and second grade over the years and has been a substitute for every level. She, like many other teachers, tries to engage parents and caretakers. It’s not easy. It’s certainly not easy as school districts require more and more from the teachers. Paperwork. Training. Conferences. Throw a pandemic into all of this and OMG. Crazy. But like most every teacher, they do it for the kids. Teachers truly love their students. Amy truly loves her students.

Meet Christian

Christian is a parent and teacher’s husband. His curiosity after taking several education courses in college led him to ask “how can we improve education?” This would not be his full time occupation until he created the Biz4Kids Education Through Entrepreneurship kit. Biz4Kids sold primarily through the homeschool shows in the early 2000s. It was during these shows that Christian saw how the needs of students were being met and the role that parents and communities must play in their education for success. It was also through these events that Christian met David.

Meet David

David is a parent. With three children of his own, David knows first hand the challenges and rewards that come with parenting. This is not David’s first “parenting” app. In the early 2000s, while Christian was promoting Biz4Kids, David was busy promoting his own product called Hoopah. This was a child friendly browser. David had much success and began building more applications.

When Christian approached David about the ClassroomAngel idea, David immediately understood the need from his experiences as well as his wife’s experiences.

Meet YOU

It was not only from our own experiences that we saw this need but also from reading about teacher experiences across the USA and the experiences that YOU have shared with us.

We can help turn this tide.

If you came here to set up a classroom and had questions about our background, we hope we’ve answered these and that you set up a classroom.

If you came here without a classroom, you can find a classroom in need. Be that angel and contribute where you want. When you do this, the teacher can use that money on supplies or school extras that will contribute to the student’s experience and learning.

Together we hope to deliver value to you, to the classroom, and the teacher. When we do this, the students win. We’re here for you. Here’s how you can reach us - Contact Us - and follow us on social media at Facebook and Instagram.
